Where we started

Established in late 2013, Tikka Banda began with a simple idea: to bring independent marching-band elements directly to people. Inspired by Malta’s band culture, we set out to create a fresh, mobile music experience with its own contemporary edge.

Since then, Tikka Banda has evolved into a high-energy roaming street band, performing at weddings, corporate events, public celebrations and creative projects across Malta and beyond.

Live music remains at the heart of everything we do. From intimate moments to large-scale events, we bring together marching-band instruments, crowd-pleasing repertoire and interactive performance to create an atmosphere people remember.

While our roots remain part of our story, we are always moving forward by exploring new sounds, collaborations and ways to turn every space into a live music moment.

About the Founder & Creative Director
Justin Formosa

Justin is the driving force behind Tikka Banda, bringing over 25 years of experience in music and community work. Since founding the band in 2013, he has brought together Maltese band culture, marching-band elements and a more contemporary sound to create distinctive live music experiences. With a background in Performing Arts, Business Management, and Creativity and Innovation, Justin is passionate about giving local talent more space to grow while creating live experiences that people genuinely enjoy. He is known for finding ways around challenges, turning limitations into ideas and building a team that works together. Through Tikka Banda, Justin continues to create bold, feel-good music moments that connect with audiences and stay with them long after the event is over.
